E-maildienst Incredimail stopt ermee. Vanaf 20 maart is de desktopapplicatie van de dienst niet meer te gebruiken, en kunnen gebruikers geen berichten meer ontvangen en verzenden. Het bedrijf zegt dat er geen behoefte meer is aan de dienst die het aanbood.

"Vanaf 20 maart 2020 sluiten we onze servers", schrijft ontwikkelaar Perion op zijn website. Perion begon ruim twintig jaar geleden met Incredimail. Dat richtte zich vooral op het verrijken van e-mails met smileys en andere 'visuele animaties'. "We begonnen een e-mailplatform omdat we geloofden dat de e-mailervaring mooi en leuk moest zijn en mensen moest laten glimlachen", schrijft de maker. Nu de communicatiemarkt gevuld is met socialemediaplatformen en instant messengers is Incredimail volgens Perion achterhaald. Het bedrijf wil zich richten op gebieden 'die relevanter zijn voor het huidige communicatiegebruik'.

Het bedrijf zegt dat gebruikers vanaf 20 maart geen e-mails meer kunnen ontvangen of versturen, maar ook niet meer bekijken. Hetzelfde geldt voor contactpersonen en bijlages. 'In sommige gevallen' kunnen sommige functies nog wel werken, zegt Perion, maar dat is dan wel 'substantieel minder betrouwbaar.' Het bedrijf biedt dan ook geen ondersteuning en klantenservice meer aan. Het bedrijf raadt klanten aan een nieuwe e-maildienst te zoeken en daar hun data naartoe te migreren. Incredimail had naar eigen zeggen vier miljoen klanten.

Today, email is not what it used to be 20 years ago. Back then, there weren't any social platforms, instant messaging or smart phones-email was really the main source of digital communication. Now, there are infinite ways to keep you connected on the go, evolving the market and its needs entirely. So, after much thought and consideration, we have decided to retire our beloved IncrediMail to focus on areas that are more relevant to today's use of technology.

As of March 20, 2020, we will shut down our servers and the IncrediMail desktop application will no longer be available.

What should you expect?
Sending, receiving and viewing your emails, contacts and attachments will not be available through IncrediMail. In some cases, you will still be able to use those functionalities, but they would be substantially less reliable and incredimail would not be able to provide any level of customer service or support.

All of our IncrediMial graphics, letters, eCards, animations, emoticons, sounds, notifiers, skins and any other IncrediMail assets as well as any additional services such as Gold Gallery, IncrediMail Plus and the Protection Center, will no longer be available.

Our first priority is to help make this transition as easy as possible for you. Therefore, we strongly suggest contacting your email provider and making sure all your data is backed up (emails, attachments, contacts, etc.).

We know for many of you, a great deal of care has gone into managing your emails and contacts with IncrediMail-including your time and the most precious moments you've trusted us with-and, for that, we'd like to thank you.

We apologize for any inconvenience this transition causes and we so deeply appreciate your loyalty over the years.

Dit bericht doet inderdaad de ronde , maar iemand heeft naar incredi gebeld en zij ontkennen zelf dat IM gaat stoppen. dit is het antwoord. NOt sure If I reached everyone but talked to Incredimail on phone and they will NOT be shutting down, it is a big scam!!! Beware dus incredi stopt niet, het is een haox , onrust stoken ,zeker niet op links klikken in het bericht !! Dit kreeg ik in de mail men zegt dus dat het een HOAX is??

Een ander kan schrijven wat die wil, ik ga uit van de website en de makers van IncrediMail.

Ze zeggen gehackt ach men wil het blijkbaar niet missen vandaar dit. Als je mail krijgt van iemand met IM dan ziet het er niet uit als je het zelf niet hebt. Dus ik ben er super blij mee dat het stopt.

Ik gebruikte het programma al vanaf het begin en heb er nooit problemen mee gehad.

De voornaamste reden dat ik dit programma gebruikte was dat ik Eén postvak had voor al mijn emailadressen. Ik heb 12 emailadressen (Werk, kinderen, school) waarvan alle post mooi in 1 postvak binnenkwam en vandaar uit verdeelde ik de mailtjes naar de diverse bewaar mappen.

Ik heb nu Mozilla Thunderbird maar vind dit dus maar niets.

Weet iemand een soortgelijk emailclient als Incredimail waar je wel 1 postvak hebt voor alle emailadressen?

In Outlook 2016 kun je kiezen of als losse accounts of in één inbox.

Van gratis email programma's weet ik te weinig voor een goed advies.

Je kunt met elke fatsoenlijke Email Client binnenkomende Email automatisch in een Mapje laten zetten dat bedoeld is voor het afzendadres in kwestie.
